[Sen./Rep.] [FIRST NAME] [LAST NAME]
Washington, DC
Dear [Sen./Rep.] [LAST NAME]:
Dear Members of Congress, I write to express outrage over Senator Chris Van Hollen's (D-MD) recent trip to El Salvador to meet Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a verified MS-13 gang member, domestic abuser, and illegal immigrant. This taxpayer-funded stunt, undertaken on April 17, 2025, prioritizes a terrorist-affiliated criminal over the safety and needs of American citizens. The Trump administration rightfully deported Abrego Garcia on March 15, 2025, to El Salvador's Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT), acting within its full authority to protect our nation from MS-13, a designated terrorist organization. Van Hollen's actions, however, betray the public trust and demand immediate accountability. Abrego Garcia is a clear threat—a ranking MS-13 member with a history of domestic violence and no legal right to remain in the U.S. His deportation was a necessary step to ensure public safety, yet Van Hollen chose to travel to San Salvador, using taxpayer dollars to meet this criminal in a hotel after being denied prison access. This was not an act of compassion but a cynical publicity grab to score political points with the far-left. While American families struggle with crime and economic challenges, Van Hollen's focus on a gang member is a slap in the face to every constituent he swore to serve. The White House has rightly condemned this hypocrisy, with Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai calling it "truly disgusting" and President Trump labeling Van Hollen a "GRANDSTANDER" on Truth Social. No American asked for this. Van Hollen's decision to advocate for a terrorist-affiliated illegal immigrant over law-abiding citizens reflects a profound failure of leadership and a disregard for our nation's values. Congress must act swiftly to restore public confidence. I urge you to formally censure Senator Van Hollen for his misuse of taxpayer funds and misplaced priorities. Such a measure is not only warranted but essential to reaffirm that elected officials serve the American people, not criminals or terrorist organizations. Failure to hold Van Hollen accountable risks further eroding trust in our institutions and emboldening those who prioritize political theater over governance. The American people deserve representatives who put their safety and prosperity first. I call on Congress to censure Senator Van Hollen and send a clear message: those who defend gang members over citizens have no place in public office. Support the Trump administration's efforts to protect our nation and reject this shameful agenda.
Sincerely,
[SIGNATURE]
